A Jumper Setting ============== Indicator LED ------------- The indicator (LED) on the front bezel lights up while the HDD executes a command. An external LED can also be lighted through the -SLV/ACT signal terminal on the same condition by setting the strap S0 to ON. Straps ------ The setting method for the straps, S1 and S2, should be changed according to the number of the HDDs connected as shown in the following table. Functions of straps +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | Strap No.| Function | +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | S0 | Changes over the function of the -SLV/ACT output | | | signal. | | | ON : The -ACTIVE signal is selected. The external LED| | | can be lighted up at the -SLV/ACT signal | | | terminal. | | | OFF : The -SLAVE PRESENT signal is selected. | +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | S1 | Selects whether one HDD is used singly, or two HDDs | | | are used in daisy chain connection. | | | ON : Two HDDs are used. | | | OFF : Only one HDD is used. | +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | S2 | Selects the master drive or slave drive. | | | OFF : Only one unit used, or master drive with two | | | units used. | | | ON : Slave drive with two units used. | +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+ | S3 | Changes over the -I/O CH RDY output signal. | | | OFF : The -I/O CH RDY signal is not output. | | | ON : The -I/O CH RDY signal is output. | +----------+-------------------------------------------------------+ Notes: 1. ON : Strap short OFF : Strap open 2. At the shipping of the HDD, the strap S0 is set to ON, S1 to OFF, S2 to ON, S3 to ON. The mounting cabinet for the HDD should be constructed so that no distortion may be produced in the chassis. A space of at least 1.5mm must be allowed between the mounting cabinet and the PCBA of the HDD. An insulation sheet should be stuck to the PCBA mounting face of the HDD mounting cabinet, as required. In each mounted position, the front can be raised by up to 30*. Mounting positions other than those shown must be discussed separately. Screws ------ The HDD is fixed with screws through the mounting holes at the 3-#6-32UNC 4 deep each side. 4-#6-32UNC 4 deep bottom. The HDD checks the written command code at first. If it is an undefined code, the HDD aborts the command execution as an ABRT error. Even when the execution is started with the correct command code, the HDD monitors its own internal status under execution continuously. If an error is detected, the HDD aborts that command immediately.
